In the corridor between Boston and Washington, D.C., there are over 50 million living souls that are in need of a Saviour. The Northeast Corridor boasts the world’s largest megalopolis and has one of the lowest numbers of independent Baptist churches in the entire country. It has been estimated that around 17% of the U.S. population lives in the Boston-Washington corridor, commonly called the Bos-Wash Megalopolis. The population of the corridor is high, yet the land only covers around 500 miles constituting about 2% of the land area of the U.S.

Bos-Wash Megalopolis

This massive corridor is home to several major cities. Boston, Providence, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. are the biggest cities, but with each city, there are hundreds of suburbs and districts. Each metropolitan area is unique to itself, yet they are the same in need. The Gospel is needed desperately in these areas.

Between 9% and 15% of residents in these areas are addicted to illegal substances. That is between 4.5 million and 7.5 million people that are using an illicit drug. In addition, this area is a hub for a particularly dangerous drug called fentanyl.

There is no doubt that there is a great need for the Gospel in this area of the United States. Churches in the corridor are doing their best to reach their area, yet they need more help. 50 million people are in desperate need of the Gospel, yet it is the area being reached the least of all the regions of America.

While there are certainly many godly men of God striving to reach as many as possible within this section of the United States, the fact remains that more Bible-believing, soul-winning Christians are needed to accomplish the great task we have been given. Will you pray about how you could help reach this needy area of the United States?
