I Samuel 7:1
“And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctifified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD.”

In this verse, we find the story of the Philistines returning the Ark of God to the people of Israel. The men of Beth- shemesh were excited at first but then because of their disobedience of looking inside of it, the Lord killed over 50,000 of them.

All of a sudden they no longer wanted win the Ark. They sent out a message that if anybody wanted it to come and get
it. It wasn’t long before the people of Kirjath-jearim came and got it.

When I read this verse, I can’t help but think of soul winning. There seems to be many who do not want the truth of the Gospel but there is always someone else out there who does.

It

Consider the path of the Ark. The Philistines didn’t want it but the men of Beth-shemesh did. Then, the men of Beth-shemesh didn’t want it but the people of Kirjath-jearim did. David didn’t want it but Obed-Edom did. It has always been that way.

As we go out soul winning, we will definitely meet those who do not want what we have to offer, but just down the road there is someone who does want it.

Knowing this truth, there are several things to keep in mind as we seek to win the lost.

  1. The quicker we find the one who doesn’t want it, the sooner we find the one who does.
  2. The more folks we talk to, the sooner we find those who want what we have to offer.
  3. The more people we find who want what we have to offer, the more who will trust Christ.
  4. The more people who trust Christ means the more people in Heaven one day.
  5. The more people in Heaven means the quicker the rapture takes place.
  6. The sooner the rapture takes place, the sooner we get to leave this world.
  7. The sooner we leave this world, the sooner those who did not want Christ can get rid of us.
  8. The sooner they can get rid of us, the happier they will be (or so they think).
  9. By going soul winning, we can make everyone happy!
